Ulla Krigul. Organ. Estonia

The Estonian organist Ulla Krigul is a great example of how  traditions and modernity can co-operate. Here she is playing classical music. And the next thing you know she presents an ultra-modern performance with the organ and electronics. On the stage, she is straightforward and natural, and her performance is sincere and easy to understand.
Once again, Ulla will bring some unique Estonian music to Lviv. At the closing of the Organ Festival, she will perform the music of Peeter Süda, who is the father of the Estonian organ school. She will also present a cycle written by the contemporary composer from Estonia, Erkki-Sven Tüür.
 
The concert will be part of the International Organ Festival, which will be held at the Lviv Organ Hall for the ninth time. From July 14 to August 18, Lviv will become the official organ capital of Ukraine. 15 concerts, outstanding organists from four countries, master classes and hours of good music will be brought to our guests!
 
Ulla Krigul is one of the greatest organ players of her generation in Estonia. She studied piano and organ in Estonia and Austria. She performed as a soloist and chamber performer in all major Estonian churches, took part in international organ festivals, and gave concerts in Finland, Austria, and Sweden. Ulla pays much attention to contemporary works: "I like to play modern Estonian music, free of so-called rules. It has the space for search and experiment and there is no blind copying." Ulla was the first to perform several works by the younger generation of Estonian composers (Tõnis Kaumann, Galina Grigorieva, Tõnu Kõrvits, Ülo Krigul, Märt-Matis Lill, etc.).
