Music of perfect structures.

Date and time

14 August 2019, Wednesday 19:00

Perfect structure. Graphical perfection. Accurate balance. This is a mandala. An ancient symbol, a model of the universe. Hans-André Stamm composed his Mandala as a meditation. This music brings us closer to understanding the higher spheres.
Inspired by Indian music, Philip Glass wrote his six-part meditation — "Songs from Liquid Days". It's a reflection of classical romance. Minimalist Glass writes a musical ornament with no beginning and no end.
Ulla Krigul, organist from Estonia, will perform the music of perfect structures.

The concert will be a part of the International Organ Festival, which will be held at the Lviv Organ Hall for the ninth time. Lviv will become the official organ capital of Ukraine from July 14 to August 18. The guests will witness 15 concerts from outstanding organists from four countries, master classes and hours of good music!

Ulla Krigul is one of this generation's greatest organ players from Estonia. She studied piano and organ in Estonia and Austria. She performed as a soloist and chamber performer in all major Estonian churches, took part in international organ festivals, and gave concerts in Finland, Austria and Sweden. Ulla pays much attention to contemporary works: "I enjoy playing new Estonian music, free of so-called rules. It has the space for search and experiments and there is no blind copying". Ulla was the first to perform several works by the younger generation of Estonian composers (Tõnis Kaumann, Galina Grigorieva, Tõnu Kõrvits, Ülo Krigul, Märt-Matis Lill, etc.).
