New Year lunch. Organ toccatas
Date and time
30 December 2018, Sunday 15:00
Toccata translated from Latin literally means "to touch". Touches to the keys of the organ become music that touches human souls. Lightweight, speed, improvisation, finger movement, alternating melodies in the left and right hands, like echoes of two birds are characteristic features of this genre. Starting with Girolamo Frescobaldi, the toccatas become longer and more virtuoso, reaching the heights of extravagance and attention to detail. The top is Johann Sebastian Bach, and his Toccata and Fugue d moll are still the most popular piece for the organ.
French romantic organ school is also hard to imagine without toccata. Boellmann Messiaen will also be played at the concert. And the modern toccata will be presented by the work of Grimoaldo Macchia "Bells of Bethlehem".
We invite you to hear the whole story of toccata in the concert of Olena Matselyukh!
