Ivan Ostapovych – conductor

Violin Concerto
Symphonic poem «Koliadnytsia»
Symphonic poem «Chaconne»
Symphonic poem «Vesnianka»

These three poems have not been performed for decades since there premiere time. Luckier is only Violin Concerto, as it was also sometimes performed in the 80s. Symphonic poems «Vesnianka» (1935), «Koliadnytsia» (1945) and «Chaconne» (1964), written by classical composer of Galician music Stanislav Liudkevych, are unique phenomena in Ukrainian culture. These large Liudkevych symphonies close the festival dedicated to this composer – Liudkevych Fest.During his life Liudkevych worked in various genres: vocal, choral, instrumental, chamber and symphony. The large forms are important part of his work, as despite hard times, the composer managed to create his own symphonic style. In the first half of the XXth century, he was the only Ukrainian composer-symphonist in Galicia. It's high time to look back and discover for yourself forgotten masterpieces.
